About your guide

This experience is hosted by Estefania, a Colombian-Italian visual arts student.
I like to consider myself as a person of the world, I’ve been traveling since I was a child and on this journey I’ve learned how to appreciate the diversity of life. I am an audiovisual and communicative artist, photographer and dancer currently studying at Lisbon’s Fine Art School.

I fell in love with Lisbon the moment my eyes fell upon the sparkling, kaleidoscopic tiles that cover its historical buildings. I am enthralled by the fact of living in a city and being surrounded by this ancient art…

I want to share not only the history of this magical craft, but also interact with it artistically using my skills with photo and video…

What we’ll do

In this tour we will get to know each other, surrounded by history, art and the beautiful streets of Lisbon.
We will start at the very beginning of the Tiles story, in a Moorish-inspired building tucked away in the city centre. There we can explore the breathtaking patio, have a coffee and get to know each other.

Next, we will follow a carefully designed route through the streets of Intendente, where we can see a whole range of different tiled buildings and visit the beautiful Fábrica Viuva Lamego, which is a famously intricate, old tiled building.

Finally, we will head to a secret art studio, a unique place full of artists and painters, with music in the air and paintings all over the walls. Here we will sit down together and create our own azulejo tile, which you can take home with you and have a precious memory from your amazing time in Lisbon.

Where we’ll be

1. Secret Moorish-inspired building in the centre of the city: one of the most surprising, unique, tiled buildings in the city

2. Streets of Intendente and old tile factory Fabrica Viuva Lamego

3. Hidden art studio where we will do a tile painting workshop

What I’ll provide

All the materials to make your very own Lisbon tile
